Susan Farber became interested in designing jewelry at age 16, while vacationing with girlfriends in Laguna Beach, CA. While strolling along the main strand, Ms. Farber was drawn to a tiny bead store where she methodically designed her first pair of beaded earrings; and then wore them continuously throughout high school. Ms. Farber’s love for beading evolved from a hobby to a small business endeavor when she suffered a traumatic bicycling accident which prevented her from returning to her usual day job. During her recovery, she re-evaluated her life’s intentions and made the decision to pursue what has become her lifelong passion, designing jewelry that brings pleasure and joy to others.
Drawn to creativity by her parents, her affinity for color, textures, and shapes came from spending weekends at her mother’s plant store and visiting nurseries, where she was mesmerized by the magical array of flora and blossoms.
As far back as grade school, she remembers being entranced by the crystal facets she discovered in school yard rocks. Perhaps this was the genesis of her fascination with the dazzling prisms of the Swarovsky crystal beads she so carefully works into her unique designs.
Ms. Farber has been known to sell her distinctive designs right off her neck while standing in the Women’s locker room at the gym or chatting with friends at a party. She has designed custom jewelry for bridesmaids, as well as one-of-a-kind necklaces to compliment a particular outfit. In response to demand for her jewelry by friends and followers, Beaded Brilliance was established in 2001. Susan's unique designs have showcased in holiday boutiques, fundraisers, and at Patti Montana, a Santa Barbara-based retail clothing store. This online boutique was developed to offer others easy access to her extensive collection. She hopes you'll enjoy your shopping experience and looks forward to hearing from you with any questions or special needs you might have. Contact Susan
